Part two of our six-part virtual series on key cooking skills will explore the secrets of proper knife technique, especially of using a chef’s knife.
About the Event
All you need are five basic cooking skills to come up with a great answer to the most important question of the day, “What’s for dinner?”
With these five cooking skills, you can easily save time and money by using what you have on hand to prepare meals that will make your taste buds dance a jig. This session, Knock Out the Chop, will focus on the No. 1 skill you need in the kitchen: Knife skills.
You can’t hit a home run by swinging a golf club, and you can’t knit a sock with a twig. You need the proper equipment. Of the different types of knives you’ll want in the kitchen, a chef’s knife is your single most important tool. We’ll cover the proper way to hold the knife, how to keep your knife sharp, the proper cutting motion and the proper technique for cutting a variety of vegetables and fruits.
