The YES! Mission:

To give adults in the Greater New Orleans area the literacy skills they need to become active, engaged citizens. We teach adult education at the YMCA Learning Center housed at the Main Branch of the New Orleans Public Library.

About Us:

YMCA Educational Services (YES!) is the literacy branch of the YMCA of Greater New Orleans. Since 1977, it has served over 15,000 students with the help of dedicated staff and volunteers.

YES! provides reading and math instruction to adults ages 16 and over who read below the 9th grade level.

Students come to YES! for many reasons:

  • to gain skills that will help them succeed in a GED program or workforce training
  • to learn how to help their children or grandchildren with homework
  • to read the Bible or to read aloud at church services
  • to improve their chances for greater job opportunities

What they all have in common is a desire to learn. It is our privilege at YES! to work with them.
