The YMCA of Greater San Antonio has placed the needs of kids, families and communities first for more than 130 years. The YMCA of Greater San Antonio is one of the largest youth service agencies in San Antonio. The Northeast YMCA Y School Age program began school-age child care in 1983. In 2007, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio consolidate child care programs to ensure equality throughout the city of San Antonio and surrounding communities. The objective of our child care programs is to provide each community with comprehensive, school-based support services that can impact the lives of young children and their families. Our value-based YMCA curriculum helps to develop the whole child, with activities that focus on developing skills that support children to become self-confident learners. The curriculum is designed to keep the children actively involved in a fun, safe, enriching environment during non-school hours. The Youth Development department offers a wide range of programs utilizing community facilities. The Youth Development department has been recognized as a national leader in the development of community-based child care.
