About

The original Rockwood Golf Course was opened for play in 1938. It was designed by Golf Course Architect John Bredemus, with subsequent upgrades by Golf Course Architect Ralph Plummer. The "Rock" Course is an 18 hole regulation course.

The "Rock" is a par 71 and plays to 6,340 yards from the Championship tees, 6,070 from the White tees and just 5,566 from the Red tees. There are just a handful of bunkers and the course is a great example of the old style of golf course architecture.

The clubhouse includes a golf shop and snack shop with inside seating. A new driving range was opened in Summer of 2008 accomodating up to 25 practice stations.

Rockwood is the Home of The First Tee of Fort Worth and the new Ben Hogan Learning Center just opened December 2011. This coming Feburary 2012 construction will begin on a short course which will avail the opportunity to play either a 6 or 3 hole course. Projected opening of the short course is Labor Day, 2012. A new tournament pavilion is estimated to be complete this spring or early summer accomodating tournaments up to 120 players. And the clubhouse will receive a facelift both inside and out in the Fall/Winter of 2012/early 2013.
