The 18-hole course at the Park Hills Country Club, located at the base of the Allegheny Mountains in Altoona, Pennsylvania features 6,032 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 69.4 and it has a slope rating of 126. Designed by James G. Harrison, ASGCA, the Park Hills golf course opened in 1927. Original course design was 9 holes and in the late 60’s, Park Hills added its back nine!
Even though our course does not boast great length, you will need a straight drive and a very good short game to tackle what we have to offer. The front nine is a little more forgiving with open fairways, but with fast undulating greens and maturing trees, it still makes for a challenging nine holes. The back nine is much different! Its layout starts with a long, narrow par 3, 10th, 211 yards guarded by trees on both sides, greenside bunkers and out of bounds left and beyond the green. From there, the 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th holes will leave you feeling a little hesitant to let out that full swing as these holes require placing the ball strategically or risking all for that perfect tee shot!
