The Hesston Steam Museum is operated by the LaPorte County Historical Steam Society an all volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit. A museum of steam powered and related vintage equipment including industrial, agriculture and railroads.This is not your average museum with glass cases. At the Hesston Steam Museum you step back into a time when steam was king. Our exhibits come The collection includes as 1900 vintage saw mill, 67 ton Shay Logging Locomotive, an electric generator, 92 ton railroad steam crane, traction engines, scale steam trains and much more, all steam powered.
At the Hesston Steam Museum, History comes alive at the Hesston Steam Museum as real steam locomotives take you on a spectacular two and a half mile journey through deep woods, past lakes and farm fields. Ride our 1/4 scale and 1/8 scale steam railroads. Both meander over bridges and through an enchanting wooded landscape. The Hesston Steam Museum is filled with other steam powered machinery including a steam-powered saw mill, a railroad steam crane, steam powered electric power plant, steam traction engines and more.Visit The Depot Store for a wide variety of steam related items including tee and sweat-shirts, "Thomas the Tank Engine"® toys and much more.
