Alber Orchard and Cider Mill

13011 Bethel Church Road
Manchester, MI 48158

Alber Orchard and Cider Mill is owned and operated today Mike and Therese Bossory, and their children Megan and Nathan. The Bossory's are the first owners outside the Alber family since the farm was purchased by John Alber in 1881. The land itself was originally deeded by President Andrew Jackson in 1832.

Mike and Therese seek to maintain and preserve the local history and traditions of the area, growing more than 50 varieties of apples, many of which are heirloom varieties no longer available in grocery stores. They have also modernized the original 1890 Mount Gilead Cider Press, and provide working demonstrations for their guests to show how the apples are blended, squeezed, and jugged in the original traditions.

Although Mike still maintains an off-farm sales position and Therese is a full time nurse, they plan to soon devote full time to the preservation of these historic buildings and grounds for your enjoyment.

The orchard is a wonderful place for special events, weddings, and group picnics. Features of the farm include the beautiful rolling hillsides, creek, a gazebo nestled in the orchard, horse-drawn wagon rides, a fall pumpkin patch and the extensive variety of traditional and heirloom apples.
