AARP Pennsylvania is excited to collaborate with this year’s OpenStreetsPGH!

OpenStreetsPGH is a free community event that opens miles of city streets for people to walk, run, bike, and explore spaces that would otherwise be used by motor vehicles. The event temporarily closes streets to car traffic and invites you to walk, run, bike, skate, roll, dance, and enjoy the road with us at your own pace. The July 27th event takes place from 10am-2pm in Pittsburgh’s East End and Homewood communities. Be sure to look for AARP volunteers who will be on-site sharing resources and fun giveaways. Register here to let us know you’re coming – we hope to see you there!

You can also explore free fitness classes at the event’s wellness hub, teach your children or grandchildren to bike at the kid’s hub, grab food from local vendors, and enjoy a variety of other fun activities. This event series is organized by Bike Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization that works on behalf of the Pittsburgh community to transform our streets and communities into vibrant, healthy places by making them safe and accessible for everyone. Visit the Bike Pittsburgh website here to check out the route and learn more about this event.

AARP Livable Communities supports the efforts of neighborhoods, towns, rural areas and cities like Pittsburgh to be great places for people of all ages. AARP Pittsburgh and our local partners believe that communities should provide safe, walkable streets; affordable housing and transportation options; access to needed services; and opportunities for residents of all ages to participate in community life.
