Caregiver Support

Arkansas Total Care (866-282-6280)
Caregiving Collaborations® program improves caregivers’ quality of life by providing the extra support needed as they assist others.

Arkansas Department of Human Services Caregiver Resources Resources address a wide range of caregiving concerns including respite care and training and provide an online portal containing information for over 20 state and federal programs including food assistance and Medicaid enrollment.

Finances

Arkansas Department of Human Services Medicare Savings Program (855-372-1084)
Helps residents understand and manage their Medicare premium costs.

Arkansas Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (501-682-8726)
Assists low-income households with home energy costs through Regular Assistance and Crisis Intervention Programs.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (855-372-1084)
Eligible households receive food assistance through an Electronic Benefits Transfer card to cover a portion of their food budget, along with nutritional education.

Legal

Center for Arkansas Legal Services (501-376-3423)
Nonprofit firm offers free civil (noncriminal) legal services to low- income Arkansans.

Medical-Legal Partnerships in Arkansas (800-952-9243 | 501-376-3423)
A project of Legal Aid of Arkansas, MLP offers legal help to vulnerable residents, helping eliminate barriers to health care.

Health

Alzheimer’s Arkansas (501-224-0021)
Offers a 24-hour telephone support line for caregivers, caregiver education sessions and financial assistance, among other services.

Offers residents information about current health concerns and access to more than 100 services offered by public health professionals.

Medicare Nursing Home Compare Provides detailed information about every Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the country.

Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program (800-282-9134)
Counselors give residents unbiased information about Medicare, Medigap, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D (drug plans) and long-term care insurance options.

Housing and Care Facilities

Arkansas: HUD (501-324-5931)
Assists with housing needs; offers resources and programs to help families stay in their homes.

Arkansas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (501-508-8858)
Investigates and resolves complaints made by — or on behalf of — long-term care residents. Also offers education and assistance in obtaining needed services; coordinates efforts with service providers.

Information and Services

ARChoices in Homecare: Arkansas Department of Human Services (866-801-3435)
Offers home- and community-based services for adults over 65 and adults over 21 with a physical disability. Services assist with everyday activities like bathing, dressing and preparing meals.

Arkansas Association of Area Agencies on Aging (866-245-5498)
Provides information and resources to aging adults and their caregivers on elder care services.

Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs (501-683-2382)
Serves Arkansas veterans and eligible dependents through advocacy and education so that they can access state and federal benefits, high-quality long-term nursing care and burial honors.

Advocates for and provides information about transportation options for older adults with disabilities.

Provides caregivers of veterans with resources, training, education, advice and support.

Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly: Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services
Health care professionals work with patients and their families to help meet their healthcare needs in the community instead of going to a skilled nursing facility.
