AARP Supports Jacksonville's Black Family Wellness Expo

Posted on 03/18/24 by Maryanna Antoldi

Over Saint Patrick's Day weekend, AARP Jacksonville was proud to sponsor the Black Family Wellness Expo, an event aimed to improve the health and wellness of Black individuals in the city.

This free event hosted by the Bold City chapter of The Links, Incorporated — one of the nation's largest organization for African-American women — raised awareness about conditions that shorten or impacted the quality of life in the Black community, with efforts to reduce educational, economic, and health-related disparities. An array of local organizations were in attendance such as the American Hearth Association, Feeding Northwest Florida and Linkages to Life. AARP Jacksonville not only sponsored the event, but also presented our Prepare to Care conversation to attendees during breakfast.

As a nationwide partner of The Links, Incorporated, AARP remains committed to ensuring that all members of the community receive the tools they need to set themselves up for success before and after retirement. At our table, AARP Jacksonville volunteers listened to various caregiving stories and shared essential resources with visitors.

"The Bold City (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was delighted to partner once again with AARP on this year’s Black Family Wellness Expo," explained Bold City president Aleizha Barton. "Links chapters aligned nationally and internationally on this day to provide holistic education and information to strengthen the Black family unit."
