Consumer-Facing Nursing Home Dashboard will provide transparency for Ohioans

In response to Gov. Mike DeWine’s announcement of the launch of the Ohio Department of Aging’s Nursing Home Quality Navigator, Holly Holtzen, AARP Ohio state director, released the following statement:

“As a member of Gov. DeWine’s Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force, I am pleased and encouraged by the launch of the new nursing home dashboard.

The task force’s recommendations report detailed the vital need for increased accountability and transparency in nursing homes, a call that aligns with AARP’s mission to provide safe, high-quality care to Ohio’s nursing home residents.

Ohioans deserve to have all necessary information and performance data in one place when selecting a nursing home for themselves or their loved ones. This online resource empowers them to easily research nursing homes in their area and feel confident they are making the right decision.

This is also a great asset for caregivers faced with the difficult and often overwhelming choice when moving their loved one into a nursing home. Having relevant and accurate information can help provide caregivers peace of mind by allowing them to make an informed decision.

AARP supports this development and greatly appreciates Gov. Mike DeWine’s and Director Ursel McElroy’s efforts to build this necessary online tool. We look forward to future our collaboration, as well as working with the state legislature to guarantee Ohioans have what they need to thrive in the state.”
