Join our social gatherings known as “LGBT Quesdays” to mingle and share with LGBTQ+ people and allies of all ages and backgrounds.
About the Event
In collaboration with The Generations Project, AARP Oregon presents a monthly virtual social gathering to connect people in the LGBTQ+ community and allies, using writing and discussion prompts. Topics vary from the light and humorous to the personal, allowing participants to find a subject they find easy to write or talk about.
The February conversation topic is solidarity across marginalized communities. Michela Griffo, a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front who helped organize the first Pride march in New York City, will talk about how the GLF was intertwined with the Black Panthers and Young Lords in those early days and how they saw their struggles as connected and their liberation as interdependent.
Between each writing period, group conversation is guided by facilitators from The Generation Project, which cultivates intergenerational community across ages, classes and sexual and gender identities and preserves LGBTQ+ history through oral story sharing. No writing experience is necessary.
