Greater Lynchburg residents, friends and family are invited to witness remnants of history and learn more about Old City Cemetery!
This event will include a walking tour of the cemetery grounds and a stop in the on-site museum. Our tour will be led by a staff historian who will focus on aspects of Black History in line with this special month of celebration. The inclusion of African burial customs will be one portion of the lecture in addition to making participants aware of notable African Americans buried in the cemetery. Unique gravesites, horticulture and artistry will also be seen along the way.
Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes. AARP will provide free entrance, water and snacks to all who register in advance.
